Key Features & Character
- Aperture & Bokeh: The fast f/1.2 aperture allows for incredible low-light performance and an extremely shallow depth of field. It is famous for its “creamy” and smooth background blur (bokeh).
- Optical Build: Includes 11 elements in 8 groups, featuring two ED (extra-low dispersion) elements and one double-sided aspherical element to control spherical and chromatic aberrations.
- Build Quality: High-quality metal construction with a dedicated physical aperture ring. Note that this original version is not weather-sealed.
- Focusing: Uses a DC coreless motor. While accurate, it is slower and noisier than newer Linear Motor (LM) lenses, and it is not recommended for fast-action sports or video.
