Key Specifications & Performance

Lens: It features a fixed 45mm f/1.9 lens with 5 elements in 4 groups. While slightly “slower” than the QL17, it is praised for providing a natural perspective and high sharpness.
Quick Loading (QL) System: Features Canon’s signature QL mechanism, making film loading fast and reliable by simply aligning the film leader with a colored mark.
Shutter Priority EE: The camera offers shutter-priority auto-exposure (EE) using a CdS light meter, with a shutter speed range from 1/500 to 1/4 second plus Bulb.
Mechanical Operation: A major advantage is that it is fundamentally mechanical; it can operate at all shutter speeds without a battery. Power is only required for the internal light meter.
Battery: Originally designed for 1.35V mercury cells (PX625), which are now discontinued. Modern users typically use 1.4V zinc-air batteries or adapters for standard LR44/SR44 cells.
